Royal rumors swirl: Is William taking George to the US?

The FIFA World Cup kicks off June 11.

Big event. Loud cheers. Maybe a crown.

Prince William isn’t just watching from the sidelines. He’s a proper football nut, patron of the English Football Association, the works. You find him singing “Sweet Caroline” in Turkey last May with friends. You find him at Aston Villa games, screaming for the team like the rest of us. Now a rumor is bubbling up that he’s planning a secret trip to America for the tournament. Not a state visit. Just dad and son, Prince William and twelve-year-old Prince George.

Royal writer Christopher Andersen says it’s plausible.

George is “a passionate soccer fan,” Andersen tells Fox Digital News.

If William and George do head across the pond, the history books need updating.

“This would mark the first known visit by two future kings,” Andersen explains. First time either of the Wales kids—Charlotte, Louis, or George—have been on American soil.

King Charles and Queen Camilla just left after visiting Donald Trump. Andersen calls it an “unqualified triumph.” He thinks this sets the stage for an unofficial holiday for “the brightest stars.”

Kensington Palace disagrees. Or maybe they just aren’t talking.

“Hoping for a great performance,” a spokesperson says, dismissing public plans entirely.

William does take his son to games, though. Just not usually to new continents. In April 2025 they were in Paris for the UEFA Champions League. Aston Villa lost. It didn’t matter. William said staying in “best behavior” was tough but worth it for his boy.

“It’s been 43 years,” William told TNT Sports, referencing the last big night for a Villa fan like him in that era. “I want George to experience a night away.”

He wanted memories made. Real ones. Away from the palace.

So are we seeing two royals in a US stadium soon? Probably not. The spokesperson says no plans.

William will likely be home, staring at the screen, praying England survives. George will be there too, maybe kicking a ball in the garden. Waiting for a moment that might not come this summer.

Or maybe we’re just seeing things again. 📺
